A wedding is not a catalogue shoot with relatives. It is a beautiful emotional weather system: nervous hands, champagne courage, tiny glances, strange light, speeches that wobble at the edges, questionable dance moves, and the electric little silence just before something important happens.
STRANGELOVE photographs the whole peculiar beast. Not just the obvious parts. Not just the portraits. Not just the furniture.
The aim is to make photographs that feel like evidence — not proof that your wedding looked perfect, but proof that you were there, that it mattered, and that for one wild day everybody gathered around your strange little flame and called it love.
the method
Most of the day, I watch. Properly.
I am looking for the moment behind the moment: the person hovering at the edge of the room, the hand reaching under the table, the weather turning, the parent trying not to cry, the split second when a beautifully composed photograph stops being merely beautiful and becomes alive.
That documentary instinct sits beside a love of cinema, fashion, portraiture, colour, composition and light. So the work can be loose and observant one minute, then deliberate and sculptural the next. A wedding contains multitudes. The photography should too.
trust is the invisible ingredient
The best photographs usually arrive once you stop managing the photography. That only happens when there is trust.
Before the wedding, I want to know enough about you to understand the shape of the story — what you care about, who your people are, what films or music make something in you light up. Not to manufacture a concept, but to arrive tuned in.
Then on the day, you can hand over the photographic decisions and be where you actually are. The goal is not merely a collection of attractive images. It is a cinematic record of how the day felt — including the things you never saw happening.
direction, without the hostage situation
You do not need to be good at having your photograph taken. Almost nobody is.
When direction helps, I give it. Where to stand. Where to walk. What to do with your hands. When to forget about the camera. When the light is doing something ridiculous and we should probably make use of it.
But I am not interested in making two real people perform someone else’s version of romance. The goal is to create enough shape and ease that you can stop thinking about being photographed and accidentally become yourselves.
portraits that do not eat your wedding
Wedding portraits can be wonderful. They can also become a two-hour abduction involving a bridal party, three locations and somebody shouting about sunset.
I prefer them purposeful. Sometimes that means ten minutes after the ceremony. Sometimes a short wander later in the afternoon. Sometimes we make one strange, beautiful picture in the rain and get you back to your people.
Your wedding is not a photo shoot with a party attached. You should actually get to attend it.
the rest of the story
The portraits are only one chapter. I photograph the people who came to love you, the family lineups that matter, the architecture and atmosphere, the table before everyone destroys it, the speeches, the interruptions, the quiet bits, the unruly bits and the dance floor once civilisation begins to loosen its tie.
Family photographs are handled quickly and calmly. Important details are photographed without turning the day into a scavenger hunt. Timelines can be shaped around good light and breathing room. If something goes sideways, we adapt. Weddings are living things; they are allowed to move.

Every delivered photograph is individually edited in the STRANGELOVE style. Colour, tone, black and white where it belongs, careful finishing, no beige robot in a trench coat doing the emotional heavy lifting.
You receive a preview selection first, followed by the complete collection in an online gallery with high-resolution downloads and web-ready files. Fine-art albums are also available for people who believe photographs deserve a life outside a glowing rectangle. Sensible people, in other words.
