peculiar questions

Does Strangelove photograph weddings?

Indeed. Strangelove photographs weddings, elopements, tiny vows in wild places, grand ballroom affairs, backyard love-riots, tearful town halls, and all manner of human ceremonies where two people decide to point their little boats in the same direction.

What is Strangelove’s photography style?

A little cinematic, a little documentary, a little editorial, a little “how did you make my weird uncle look like a Renaissance painting?”

Strangelove chases real feeling first: the trembling hands, the wind doing strange and beautiful things, the badly timed laugh, the holy chaos of it all. There’ll be direction when it helps, but this is not about turning your wedding into a hostage situation with flowers.

Does Strangelove take posed family photos?

Yes. The noble family lineup. The sacred shuffle. The “where has Uncle Greg gone?” ballet.

Strangelove keeps these calm, quick, and painless. A short list of must-have combinations is highly recommended so nobody has to make decisions while holding champagne and half a canapé.

We’re awkward in photos. Is that a problem?

Not even slightly.

Almost everyone says this. Then, five minutes in, they forget to be awkward and accidentally become themselves. Strangelove’s job is not to make people perform romance. It is to create enough ease that the real thing wanders out of the bushes wearing its little hat.

Does Strangelove give direction?

Yes, but gently.

Strangelove may suggest where to stand, what to do with your hands, when to walk, when to hold each other, and when to stop thinking so loudly. Nobody will be left floating in the void like two startled flamingos.

How many hours of coverage do we need?

That depends on the shape of the beast.

Small and simple? A few hours may be plenty. Full wedding day with getting ready, ceremony, portraits, speeches, dance floor, and delicious emotional carnage? Usually 8–10 hours.

Send the rough plan and Strangelove can help work out what makes sense without upselling you into oblivion.

Does Strangelove travel?

With enthusiasm and snacks.

Strangelove photographs weddings in Geelong, Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate, overseas, in fields, warehouses, hotels, family properties, wineries, beaches, halls, and once, possibly, inside a mild logistical nightmare.

Travel fees may apply depending on where the love circus is taking place.

When should we book?

As soon as you know Strangelove is your strange little cup of tea.

Peak wedding dates can vanish quickly, especially Saturdays in the warmer months. If your date is meaningful, popular, or suspiciously convenient, best to send a flare early.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A booking fee locks the date in the calendar and tells the universe, “This is happening.”

Until that’s paid and the agreement is signed, the date is still technically wandering the earth.

Can we meet before booking?

Absolutely. Video, phone, coffee, or carrier pigeon if the pigeon is well organised.

It’s important that you feel comfortable with the person following you around on one of the most emotionally loaded days of your life. Vibes matter. Vibes are not everything, but they are not nothing.

Does Strangelove help with timelines?

Yes, gladly.

Wedding timelines can become feral if left unsupervised. Strangelove can help with the best light, portrait windows, family photo timing, travel buffers, and where the day might need a little breathing room.

A good timeline is invisible magic. A bad timeline is everyone sweating into a boutonnière.

Does Strangelove retouch images?

Lightly and naturally where needed — temporary blemishes, distractions, weird little background gremlins.

Strangelove does not reshape bodies, erase entire humans, or turn real people into polished wax fruit. You are not a product. You are a person in love, which is much more interesting.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive a small preview gallery first, usually within a short window after the wedding, so there’s something beautiful to cry over immediately.

The full gallery typically follows within the timeframe listed in your package or agreement. Great editing takes care, and care takes a little time. Strangelove does not throw your memories through a sausage machine.

Do we get high-resolution files?

Yes. Your gallery includes high-resolution images suitable for printing, plus web-friendly versions for the socials, the group chat, and the soft-launch humblebrag.

Can we print our photos ourselves?

Yes. You can.

That said, professional printing is a different creature. Better paper, better colour, better longevity. Your photos deserve to live somewhere nicer than a discount printer having an existential crisis.

Does Strangelove offer albums?

Yes, and Strangelove deeply recommends them.

An album is the final form. The artefact. The thing your future selves will hold when the internet has become a sentient fridge and nobody remembers their cloud password.

Digital is convenient. Print is proof.

Does Strangelove shoot film?

Sometimes. Ask.

Film has a particular magic, but it also has a tiny gremlin tax. Beautiful, unpredictable, and not always necessary — but when it fits, oh my.

Can we give Strangelove a shot list?

Yes — for family photos and any truly important details or people who may not be obvious on the day.

But for the full wedding, a giant Pinterest scroll of “must-have” moments is not recommended. It can make the day feel like a scavenger hunt instead of a wedding.

Tell Strangelove what matters. Then let Strangelove watch properly.

What happens if it rains?

Then art is made with weather.

Rain is not the enemy. Panic is the enemy. Rain can be romantic, dramatic, cinematic, and occasionally rude. STRANGELOVE will adapt, find shelter, chase pockets of light, and use the mood rather than fight it.

Bring umbrellas. Bring trust. Bring shoes that won’t betray you.

What if we don’t want to leave our guests for portraits?

Excellent. STRANGELOVE likes you already.

Portraits don’t need to swallow the day whole. They can be short and sharp, or split into little windows: a few minutes after the ceremony, a few at sunset, maybe a quick night portrait later if the stars are behaving.

The goal is not to abduct you from your own wedding.

Can Strangelove work with our videographer?

Yes. Strangelove plays nicely with others.

A good photo/video team should move around each other like polite little sharks. Strangelove will communicate, share space, and avoid ruining other people’s shots wherever possible.

What happens if Strangelove is sick or something catastrophic happens?

Strangelove has contingency plans, networks, backups, and a healthy fear of chaos.

In the unlikely event that something major prevents the wedding from being photographed personally, Strangelove will do everything reasonably possible to arrange a suitable replacement. The goal is simple: your day gets covered, the ship stays afloat, nobody feeds the wolves.

Can we post the photos online?

Please do. Tag STRANGELOVE if the spirit moves you.

Just don’t apply heavy filters over the final edits, because somewhere a tiny colour-grading fairy loses its wings.

Does Strangelove photograph LGBTQIA+ weddings?

With open arms.

Love is love, obviously, but also: love is specific. Love is strange. Love is two people building a language only they fully understand. Strangelove is here for all of it.

What makes Strangelove different?

Strangelove cares about the feeling more than the furniture.

Yes, there should be beautiful light, strong composition, excellent colour, and a gallery that makes you look like the main characters in an unusually tasteful fever dream. But underneath all that, Strangelove is looking for evidence.

Proof that you were here.
Proof that it mattered.
Proof that for one wild day, everyone gathered around your strange little flame and called it love.

How do we book?

Send the flare.

Tell Strangelove your date, location, plans, dreams, fears, and whether there will be a dance floor uncle. Availability will be checked, details will be sent, and if it all feels right, a signed agreement and booking fee will lock it in.

Then the gentle plotting begins.

Why are all of these question and answers written in the third person?

Strangelove felt like it was a good idea at the time.
