Everyone has dressed up. Everyone is in the same room. Your grandmother looks magnificent, your friends have found the champagne, and somebody has already loosened their tie. It is a very good time to make a photograph.
BLANC brings a live portrait studio into your wedding: beautiful lighting, a simple backdrop and a photographer who knows how to bring people out of themselves. The look is often described as a Vanity Fair style photo booth. The portraits below explain it better.
I created BLANC with fellow photographer Oli Sansom, from a shared love of portraiture and the people gathered around a wedding. It gives your guests something to do together, and a photograph they might actually put on the wall.
A studio inside the party
Guests can come alone, with their partner, with their children or with the friend they have known since primary school. We guide them through it. There is room for a composed portrait, a ridiculous idea, a quiet exchange and the moment in between.
The photographer responds to the person in front of them: a small change in posture, somewhere useful to put a hand, a bit of conversation. You do not need guests who already know how to pose.
BLANC Classico pairs a white backdrop with our signature black-and-white finish. The simplicity gives faces, clothes and gestures somewhere to stand. Seasonal colour editions are also available through BLANC.
For the people who made the guest list
Wedding photography follows the day as it unfolds. BLANC makes a little space within it to look properly at the people who came.
A portrait of your parents together. The whole unruly friendship group. A grandparent and a grandchild. You and the person you have just married, with the formalities behind you.
It sits alongside your wedding coverage as a separate portrait experience. BLANC can also be booked when another photographer is covering your wedding.
The photographs, that night
BLANC’s live editing workflow delivers a finished online gallery on the night of your wedding. You can share it with your guests, who can download their portraits and order prints through the gallery.
If you add The Print Lab, 4 × 6-inch prints are produced on site and distributed after photography concludes. They can be set out for guests to collect, or handed to a nominated person. It is a lovely thing to leave a wedding holding a portrait of someone you love.
A little practical planning
When does BLANC fit into the wedding?
Cocktail hour and the reception both work well. Earlier portraits tend to feel a little more composed; later ones have often acquired a personality of their own. We can help choose a window that suits your guest numbers and the flow of the celebration.
How much space does the studio need?
Plan for a clear area of at least 3 × 3 metres, with 2.5 metres of height. Somewhere close to the guests works best. Outdoor setups need suitable shade and an indoor backup for weather or difficult light. The Print Lab also needs mains power.
Are prints included?
The online gallery is part of the portrait experience. On-site printing is available through the optional Print Lab. Current packages and inclusions are confirmed when you enquire.
Can we book BLANC separately?
Yes. BLANC is available as its own booking, including for weddings photographed by someone else and for other events. Send the date and location to BLANC to check availability.
