Chapter / GETTING READY

Call me Sebastian.

In Montenegro, I became Sebastian.

The name was bestowed upon me by Simeona’s father, Father Radan—a seven-foot-tall Orthodox priest with a Santa Claus beard, ponytail, flowing robes and the sort of presence that makes a room reconsider its posture.

“You’re not an Eric. You’re… Sebastian!”

Chapter / AFTER DARK

The night had other plans.

Then, last night, my phone rang.

“Hello, Sebastian.”

Father Radan.
